Basic Korean Phrases

I am going to share some basic Korean phrases I've learned.
Note that these are formal (used when talking to strangers or older people)

I assume that you know how to read 한글 (han-geul) already, but if you are not familiar with it, you could always google it up.

안녕 (annyeong) - a basic greeting like "hi", "hello" for friends / family or someone with equal status.
**this is an informal or casual way of greeting.

잘자요 (jaljayo) - this means "good night" I'm not sure if this is casual or what.

안녕하세요 (annyeong haseyo) - a greeting for "good morning", "good afternoon" and "good evening". it also means "how are you?"

좋습니다 (johseubnida) - "I am good" , a reply for 안녕하세요?

그저 그렇습니다. (geujo geureohsuebnida) - "I am not so good."
**it sounds like geujo grohseubnida

아주 좋습니다. (aju jeohseubnida) - "I am great", "I am very good", "very good"

아주 좋습니다. 감사합니다. 당신은 어떠세요? - "I am great. Thank you. How about you?"
**I thing tangshin is used for closer people. I'm not sure.

성함이 어떻게 되세요? - "What is your name?"

저의 이름은..(name here) - "My name is..(name here)"

만나서 반갑습니다. - "Nice to meet you"

저도 만나서 반갑습니다. - "Nice to meet you too"

당신은 어디서 오셨습니까? - "Where are you from?"

저는 … 에서 왔습니다. - "I come from.. / I am from..."

어디 사세요? - "Where do you live?"

당신은 무슨 일을 하십니까? - "What do you do?"

나는 학생입니다. - "I am a student"

나는 선생님입니다. - "I am a teacher"

(...)어디에 있습니끼? - "Where is...?"

나이가 어떻게 되세요? - "How old are you?"

나는 .. 몇살입니다. - "I am...years old"

영어할 줄 아세요? - "Do you speak English"
** a more used expression by Koreans compared to 영어 하세요?

나는 영어를 조금 할 줄 압니다. - "I only speak a little English."

잘 모르겠습니다 / 잘 모르겠어요 - "I don't understand"

다시 한번 말씀해 주시겠어요? - "Can you repeat that?"

좀 천천히 말씀해 주시겠어요? - "Can you speak slowly?"

저 좀 도와주시겠어요? - "Can you help me?"

네 - "Yes."

아니오 - "No."

제발 - "Please" , used for emphasis like "oh please.."

감사합니다 / 고맙습니다 - "Thank you."

천만에요. - "You're Welcome"
*in spoken Korean, this is less used. You may use 괜찮아요 / 아니에요 instead.

별것 아니예요 - "It's nothing" , "No problem" , "De nada"
**this is more used compared to 천만에요.

실례합니다. - "Excuse me"

잠시만요 - "Excuse me" (when passing by a person)

여기요 / 저기요 - "Excuse me" (when calling a waiter in a restaurant)

미안합니다 - "I am sorry."

곧 뵙죠 - "See you soon."

다시 만나요. - "Let's meet again."

내일 봐요 - "See you tomorrow"

잘가요/ 안녕히가세요 - "good bye"
**say this to someone who is going when you stay (I'm not sure if it's the other way round.)

좋은 하루 되세요. - "Have a nice day"
